A gig is a three pronged device with barbs, the prongs resemble large fish hooks that have been straightened out. They have a handle about 4-6 feet in length. You go out at night where the bullfrogs are, shine a light on them and gig them. The legs are very tasty.

A gig is a long pole with a spear like tip. You spear the frogs. That's how you catch them. It's called frog-giggin.

That's when people go out with a long stick that has been sharpened to a point on one end, usually at night, and 'gig' the frogs, which means basically stab them through the body (not the legs, because that's the part you eat) It's 'hunting' frogs. You put them in a sack (a poke sack will do) and take them home and skin the legs, fry them, and eat them.
What's a 'poke' sack?? heh.... another story.

Geez...Yankees, Here is what Gigging Frogs is: you go late at night in a boat and patrol the shore of a lake or river then when you find a large bullfrog you take you gig, a long spear with 3 prongs, and "gig" the frog then you skin him and throw his legs in the frying pan and if they are fresh the will still hop around in the pan, the legs and it is only nerves.

I think they just mean catching frogs with a gig, like for fishing. I live in Texas and have also never heard of this, but I'm just basing that on what a gig is.

Giggin a frog is stabbing it with a spike on a stick. They are hunted this way to chop off their legs and fry them up for dinner. I ate frog legs once and they are pretty good. Not as good as squirrel - but - you shoot those.
