I want suggestions on inexpensive gift ideas, including purchased items or gestures. I have some already, but am stuck on something a little more special. I started a new job recently and took a pay cut, so money is really tight. I may have less then $100 to work with for her this year. Help!

I am so not crafty either. If I tried to make her a quilt stand, I would likely wind up in the hospital. That would NOT be a good Christmas gift.

Make her a scrapbook of the two of you! That would be so sweet you can make it like a story; put pictures of your family and your kids if you have any. She will love it!

I was the wife in that position for many years, so I have a few thoughts, FWIW.

Is there something you would both really like to have for your home or yard, within your budget, that you could shop for together?

Are you handy around the house? Could you do something like paint or paper a room, refinish a floor, lay tile, that sort of thing? One year I asked my husband to make a railing for the cellar stairs. Nope, it wasn't feminine or exotic or even a surprise, but it was something I wanted and it was affordable.

What about coupons, done up pretty and tied with ribbon? I used to love to get coupons for vacuuming the house, scrubbing the floor, cooking a meal (or breakfast in bed), any little chores or special treats that she would otherwise have to do herself. If you have young children, an offer to babysit while she has a night out might be nice.

I'll bet you get lots of other good suggestions. Remember, she understands too that money is tight. Read "The Gift of the Magi" by O. Henry to avoid any tragic mistake! Hope this helps....

You sound like a special guy...she's a lucky lady. Write her a poem or buy a beautiful card. Enclose a CD of her favorite artist or romantic songs. A gift certificate for a spa day accompanied by a long-stemmed red rose. a pretty gift basket of lotion, perfume, soaps, etc from Victoria's Secret or Bath & Body Works. Or create a photo album of the two of you of times you've shared since being together. Hope you both have a wonderful holiday even tho this is a bit early!

I would suggest a night on the town
How about dinner and her fave movie
followed by a bubble bath
A massage
write her a love letter
A small trinket to show your affection there is so much you can do if she is like most ladies out here showing a little Romanticism will work. Merry christmas!!!!

This sounds SUPER cheesy, but it's something that I would appreciate.... one of those coupon books that kids make for thier moms, but jazz it up with stuff that you can do for her... like 1 week of dishes, or vacuuming, a massage, dinner... see if you can come up with some unique stuff, and make it nice- not just some paper stapled together... maybe buy gift certificates to her favorite coffee stands when you have a few extra bucks and hide them in between your coupons...

My mother had some jewelry that needed repairing, but she never got around to fixing it and one year my brother took it in for her and had it repaired. The repairs weren't that expensive as it was a few broken clasps and such, but some of the jewelry was special to her and it meant a lot to her. If she isn't the type to keep up with that kind of thing herself, you could even bring her wedding ring in to be cleaned. Some places do that for free.

Gift certificate to the day spa. And, while she's off on her day of pampering, you should prepare a lovely dinner for her. Chill the wine, light some candles... make it a day of pampering and romance.

Or, get yourself a sleeping bag and pillow. I hear that the doghouses don't come with amenities.

i'm now joking when i say, she'd probably like a few days alone to do whatever. i say, go away for a week [take the rugrats too if you've got any] and don't call or email her. then she will not have to cook, she can come and go as she pleases without having to answer to anyone, she won't have to do sex or laundry. i think she might really enjoy this. it is inexpensive. and best of all, it might make her miss you and you will get plenty of "miss you" sex when you get back. - d*mn i'm smart.

Make a scrap book of memorable things (pics., movie tickets, etc.). Write a book about the two of you, the hard times, good times, etc. Try getting a hotel room and get some fake roses petals and so on and so forth. Hope it helps!!

Radio Shack has these cute picture frames for about $12.00 each and you can put your own picture in there...like a picture of you guys when you were first dating and then you can also record about 30 seconds of music or your own "saying" or "your song"-then you can also get one from the kids and put their picture in it and they can both say I love you mommy or whatever you want them to say!! Then you can decorate it...all you need is a hot glue gun(you can use clockes) and some dried flowers! to make it puuuuuurty
