I think it really depends on the age of the child. My daugher is eight. Since she started school a few years ago, I typically spend around $175.00 to $200.00 (including school supplies) and shoes/accessories. Then around Mid October I usually end up spending another $75.00 to $100.00 on sweaters and a winter coat. When the holiday time rolls around if she still needs a few things I'll let friends and family know, and she will be set for the rest of the year. It works out well because she always gets too many toys and games to play with during the Holiday season. I think for older children (teens) the cost would average quite a bit more...In this case, I think teens that hold part time jobs shoud be responsible for coming up with money for extras. Such as: overly priced name brand clothing, and trendy items that they won't get much use out of but think they have to have...

I agree with $250. I tend to buy more expensive things tho, cuz most of the time sale/clearance stuff doesnt fit me (Im petite). Also, if you've stopped growing, you can probably buy few but nice items and keep building up your wardrobe. Also, I usually don't spend it all at once; just a few new outfits, then buy things as they come in season, because I love to go shopping but sometimes it got too expensive for my allowance. well, now I don't have an allowance cuz basically my parents think its enough that they help pay for college. I kinda agree, but i could still use the allowance ;)

I have sent my girls shopping with as much as $200.00 a piece, but my daughters were not afraid to shop in lower priced stores so they could spread out the money further. Also, we did some shopping in the summer, hitting sales and considering what would be acceptable for school wear.
I understand that school uniforms can be bought for much less..something like $175.00.

you should wait until a few weeks after school starts and buy everythign super cheap.
i had a friend in high school whos parents gave him $200 to spend, so he went to the Gucci store and bought a pair of $100 underroos and then went to the thrift store with the rest. dont do that.

I usually spend around $350. Let me just say something its not the price that matters, its what looks good on you. Dont be afraid to buy something less expensive that looks good on you.

Hm, that depends on how often you do laundry! If you do it every day, you can get away with buying only two complete outfits. If it's like once every two weeks, count on buying five pairs of pants, 10 shirts, 10 pairs of socks. Oh yes, almost forgot. 10 pairs of undies.
