I recently began to have a problem with browsing the internet. My computer has only Internet explorer and AOL explorer. When I try to open internet explorer, it seems to freeze and I get an error saying "Run-time error '462': The remote server machine does not exist or is unavailable"

Has anyone ever seen this problem or know how to fix it??

If you could let me know I would appreciate it....

Sounds like something is trying to run an script when you connect to the internet. I would do a virus scan, spy ware scan

Yes. The problem may be caused by having more than one explorer. If you remove the AOL explorer, restart and then try it, you should be Ok. Often these problems are caused by a conflict. If that doesn't improve it, check to see if your IE is a Beta version. If so, go back to the previous IE explorer. If not, go to the Microsoft site and search for Contact Us. Click on it, and send your query to Microsoft. Hope this can help you.

this may be a problem with whatever page your home page is set to. if you can get to other web pages on the internet with internet explorer, then try changing your home page in internet explorer, this is done by selecting tools at the top then internet options and the first tab you see there is a spot for your home page, enter the url of the page you want as your home page (page that is displayed when you open internet explorer)

It looks like the default homepage that internet explorer is set to does not (or no longer) exist. Try changing that default page to a different site (such as yahoo.com) or set it to blank.
To change the default page, open internet explorer, click "Tools", then click "Internet Options". In the "Home Page" section, click "Use Blank" to display no page everytime you open Internet Explorer. Otherwise, if you want to display a certain page, like Yahoo.com, each time, just type in http://www.yahoo.com into that box.
Hope it helps...

I wish I knew the answer to your question...but I can say that IE has given me so so so many problems that I never use it anymore. I finally got so frustrated I just switched browsers.
