I think Southerners take WAY too much heat. Probably because of North v South in the civil war, and the fact that most stock car/NASCAR drivers are from the South. It isn't a fair association.
I used to travel frequently to Charleston, SC and Saint Mary's, GA. Nearly all people I met there are warm, friendly, helpful, intelligent, polite, and respectful. So much so that it takes you aback. Depending on your gender, you have to adjust to hearing "yes/no, sir" or "yes/no, ma'am". And unlike here in the North, you have never heard the word "please" used so many times. They are a proud people, and handle stupid criticism with dignity and grace.

In any debate, it is going to take place: human beings will start up out disagreeing with you and the communique quickly degenerates right into a messy possibly unreasoning conflict. you're in college - it somewhat is it slow to have those studies. Painful each and every so often, yet take a deep breath and bounce back into the fray once you're arranged. :) In a 300 and sixty 5 days or 2, you would be surprised at how lots you have grown - from listening to various who think of in yet differently from you.

ive lived in both, from florida to the canadian boarder. ive noticed there are alot of rednecks down here, at least thats what they call themselves. i dont think it has anything to do with intellegence, its more of a mind set. stupid people are everywhere. uneducated does not mean your stupid. the educational system down here is not what it is up north, i think its better up there but that doesnt matter because most of what you learn in school is usless anyway. thats why northern people think southerners are stupid. when you get down to it, people are the same where ever you go, they just have different labels. i hope this makes some sense, it did while i was typing it, but after reading it, i just dont know. hows this? some of my best friends are rednecks.

Well I'm from Alabama and I don't consider myself a redneck. I am glad that we are raised with manners and to be friendly to everybody. I couldn't imagine not smiling and speaking to someone everyday even people I don't even know. Sometimes a smile and just a passing conversation can make alot of difference in someone elses day.
