my ipod froze and i cant turn it off

remove the battery should do the trick

HOLD DOWN THE CENTER BUTTON FOR 8 SECONDS OR UNTIL THE APPLE LOGO APPEARS

hold down MENU and the CENTER BUTTON for 5 seconds.. and it will reset.
