Some fabric stores have times set up where they will have classes for beginners. In the sewing machine I purchased, there was a pamphlet inside where it gave some sewing hints as well as the owners manual. Patterns have instructions on them, and there are books on Sewing that you can check out from the library.

Look online for your make of sewing machine under "sewing instructions for ----- ---- sewing machine."
If you need sewing instructions for using that sewing machine, such as learning to sew, and/or using a needle and thread, take a night course at your local county extension office on sewing.
