There are two major factors that play a part in forming the future; teens and the adults that help them grow. Great expectations are awaiting us when we become teenagers. Creating chores and teaching us responsibility is what adults are supposed to do. They create high expectations and goals so that we, the teenagers, can better ourselves. Though this is not what the majority of adolescents think. Furthermore adults do not want us to make the same mistakes their generation made. This is the reason as to why our parents, teachers, and councilors set goals and standards for us to reach so that we do not create the same mistakes they made.

adults grew up in a different world so that some of what they have to teach applies to teens, other things don't. The chalenges young people face today are different from my generation (born 1963) which were very different from the previous generation. Adolescents should be given support, taught and then encouraged to try things.

Well doing chores really isn't a high expectation hun. Didn't you just ask a question similar to this ? I gotta say one thing though, kids today, have it a lot easier than back then. You're lucky. You get sent to a room with a tv, stereo, ipod or whatever. I got a slap on my a.ss when I was younger. Seriously, quit your b!tching and deal with it. It's easier than being an adult.

I wish I was still a teenager !

For the amount of support given to a lot of teenager I would think the adult expectation is too high..... If adults were more involved then high expectations would be warranted...

Most expect too little..as a teenager you are getting ready to go out in the world on your own & doing so there are things you need to learn now..like being independant and responsible & one that i think is very important & thats taking responsibility for your own actions, not blaming other people for their failures.. most parents just cater to their child but they need to let & help them grow, stop trying to hold them back ..bottom line is parenting is hard work, there is a point when you dont want to push too hard & expect too much but if you know they are capable of doing more then you need to push more they will thank you for it once they r grown..i wish my parents would have expected more out of me & pushed harder instead of letting me do what i wanted..you have to remember to be parents to your children & stop trying so hard to be their friends!...i expect a lot out of my twelve year old because i know he is capable,i never want him to under estimate himself or his abilities!..but i also dont expect so much that he feals over whelmed and afraid to fail at any thing..he knows as long as he trys his very best at whatever he does that i will be proud of him nomatter what the out come...

The number of respectful, well mannered, intelligent, goal oriented teens is dropping. I'm strict, but fair. Parents are getting really lazy too. Have you seen SUPER NANNY or NANNY 911?? What is wrong with people? I didn't need help with mine & they are great kids, not perfect but they make me proud.

Too little. I also think that sometimes they don't give them enough credit. They can't all be morons,or can they? I just got through watching Teen Jeopardy, there are good kids out there.

Adults and schools expect too little from teenagers. Kids are becoming more apathetic by the day.

It's very clear from your question that you are a good communicator.

Trust yourself, and write your essay. It will be great.
