Depends on the budget and length of time available.
Having said that you don't have to go fare and spend loads to have a good time. Some of the best that have been enjoyed have been just a few miles away camping.
Where would I go somewhere warm, sunny and with friendly locals - why so as to sit and chill, relax and unwind.

Leh in the Himalayan plateau in Northern India. Its shut off by road for about four months of the year and the flights are erratic, its unspoilt remote and high in the mountains with significant Buddhist influence.
I almost went there 15 years ago but the pass was closed early due to snowfall and I couldn't afford the flight

Yes, I will go for the Maldives as well. One day these beautiful islands will be lost. It would be nice to say that I had seen them prior to their disappearance. But even better if we could stop the global warming that is causing the problem of rising sea levels

well..iam from the us..but i've lived in holland for 10 years now.. and..i've been to many places, like spain,italy,germany,france,south africa,england,and so on..
but i would love to go to aruba and greece! it looks so beautifull!
