It's hard to say because pain is subjective and everyone has a different tolerance. At first it feels like someone is scraping your skin with a pin; it's more irritating than painful. In general, areas with more flesh over the bone hurt less and bonier areas hurt more. It also depends on the size of the design and how much shading is involved. Once it's done it feel like a moderate sunburn.

I got a tattoo on my lower back when i was 16 and it didn't hurt at all. It was more of an irritating feeling. That was just my experience though. If you are sure that you want it but nervous about the pain, then bring some friends for support!

If I could get a tattoo by the sexy Ami James it would be worth any amount of pain.

its a need going into your skin, you'll obviously feel a little pain. but its nothing unbearable. where are you getting it?
the one behind my ear was a breeze but the one on my foot felt like the guy was using a knife. not to scare you...
the pain is temporary but the tattoo is forever. what you should be worrying about more is if it will really be worth having in on your skin in 10, 20 even 50 years. tattoos might hurt a little but removals will be an even bigger *****.

I guess if you like the feeling of a hundred needles constantly stabbing you for an hour they're great. I personally don't find tattoo's attractive, they remind me of kids that draw on themselves & from a far look like a nasty scab or birthmark.
Naural skin is so sexy. Why scar it all up?
Your current guy might like it but you may want to settle down some day & your future hubby might not like tatoos.
Just wait until you marry Mr. Right, then if he want you to get one. Go for it.

not really no. depending on where u get it. i got mine on my lower back. doesnt hurt as much as people make it seem. it really just feels some what like a buring or like someone just keeps scratching u in the same spot. when u get the out lining down, that hurts the most. the filling in is a piece of cake. :)
ps. ami james = gorgg . i love that guy *

Go for it, I say! It will hurt, I got one on my ankle, but the placement is very important, some spots hurt worse than others, even in my tattoo, the farther back it got the worse it hurt! I love it though, and it was well worth it!!

Well, if you put the tattoo where the skin's thin and close to the bone (ankle, hand, skull etc), it will hurt quite a bit, otherwise - well, frankly, I get a huge, almost sexual kick from beeing tattooed :) It's not *painful* like when you cut yerself, it's .... sensual :)

I have a tattoo, on my eyebrow actually, but i had a tatoo on my scar, it hurts, alot. I'm not sure about skin, but if it's on the scar, it hurts so much. My mom says that it hurts. In the beginning, doesn't hurt that much, but if the tatto guy keeps drawing on the same spot, it will hurt
