Prophet Muhammed ( Peace be upon him).
But while the environment is so much tainted with religious bias and political prejudices, one really has to put aside all bias and try to understand his life and contribution in purely scholarly fashion. He had a fascinating personality and unbiased researchers from all faiths appreciated his contributions as a leader, politician, humanitarian, legislator etc. Lot of negative remarks I see about him today are based either on ignorance or wrong information. If one digs deep, he can find what is the truth. By the way I am not preaching here, just answering the question that which single person has made most of the difference. We need to look at this scholarly.
His contribution includes but not limited to foundation of society based on freedom of speech and equality for all. He eastablished a political system with well defined rules, democratic, directed toward service for estate and people. He made education single most important rule of society. He eastablished justice system with fairness for all, delivery of justice in timely manner, unbiased towards race, sex, religion and wealth. He made justice attached with fairness, common sense and mercy. He gave rights to women, children and to those who could not help himself. He eastablished rules how to run a fair people's governament. He introduce the concept of socialism with upper classing bending to help less fortunate but at the same time have to right to keep wealth of their hard work. As a military leader he eastablished fascinating war plan and organized army. He eastablished endearing rules morality and couple responsiblity with strength. Above all he introduce humanity to their creator in a way no other prophet did before. With all powers, authority, mercy and accountablity toward Allah and only Allah. He introduce humans to respect life and other religion.
Its amazing how well his sayings are kept and can be approached. Moreover, he brought all these to people who were barbaric, ignorent. Unfortunately, Muslims themselves have forgotten his teaching. Muslim countries are presenting an entirely opposite picture to the world with lack of democracy, socialism ( in fair sense), respect for human rights, justice and education. Islam is not about killing innocent life. Its about changing lives for morality and human values. All good of Islam has been forgotten and been replaced by materialism, negative thinking and destruction of selves and other, ironically, in the name of Islam,

I thought about this wonderful question, and I cannot come up with an answer, because it is impossible to choose just ONE person who is or was the most important.
In the Christocentric viewpoint, Jesus was the most important person. But a Buddhist may feel like Buddha was the most important. A Lutheran, Martin Luther. And so on. Religious figures are so polarizing, that they should not be considered for this question.
The state of our modern civilization was built upon the shoulders of those who came before us. Knowledge of all disciplines, whether philosophy, art, mathematics, science, politics, government, medicine, etc., gradually and continually progresses over time.
Obviously, in any one field there may be a most important person, for instance, if you consider all composers, perhaps W.A. Mozart may be the one that most people consider the finest composer of all time. But even then, with narrowing it down to one smaller discipline, not all people would agree.
Ben Franklin was an very important statesmanphilosopher, and inventor, who among other things, helped to develop the free library system, explored electricity, developed the lightning rod, helped to start insurance companies, and invented bi-focals and the Franklin stove, which, surprisingly, bears his own name. (smile) That is all pretty impressive, but it has more importance to American development and culture than that of other nations.
That is why this question just may be unanswerable.

the main severe judgements you could ever make is the single they are dealing with at that momnet. judgements from the previous dont rely anymore as they have already occured. What you're doing with the end results of that judgements does rely. Others say I do is maximum severe, yet a lot of human beings try this extra beneficial than as quickly as. And and then are all judgements cake? no longer likely. existence gets tougher conventional and you are going to be able to desire to stay interior the 2nd. Your maximum severe determination is dealing with you stunning now.

I don't look at things in the way that makes one person's contribution seem more than anothers. We are all interdependent. Each person's contribution is equally important, perhaps in ways we cannot understand. Famous and influential people are no better or more important than the smallest, quietest person.
In the end, everything of value in the world is found internally.

Of course, Jesus Christ would have to be the most important.
But right now, I would have to say George Bush, whether you like him or not. He has the power to make the most positive difference in the world.

Probably Antony van Leeuwenhoek, without whom real medicine might not exist, and we'd all be dead?
