hello all
well i have sprained my ankles many time but nothing compared to teh pain of this injury. i cant put any pressure on it....if i do i get a pain that very noticably (sp?) come from my toes and shots up to the middle of my shin. If i lift my leg and have nothing supporting my ankle then it hurts alot also. it isnt bruised, and isnt too swelled up. When i do attempt to put some weight on it and lay my foot flat, i cant have from my knee down straight or it feels like its going to crack. i dont know how to explain everything really well im only 14. but any good information and advice will be appriciated
thanks
Ambere

sounds broken to me ... just what kind of family do you have that would let you sit around in that shape without insisting that you go to a doctor!!???
You can't find a doctor on Yahoo! and you can't find a family on Yahoo! You need both!!

I badly sprained my ankle about 3 weeks ago. I was in a hurry going down the stairs, lost my balance and landed on a bad side of my left foot, causing my left ankle to be stretched going on the inside. The first 48 hours were excruciating and the pain was un-believable. I've never had a serious ankle injury before.
So I immediately treated it using the RICE method. The following day, the bruising and swelling were so horrible. I found out that I got a second degree sprain and immediately panicked after that. I had a football game on that week and it been looking forward to it because I've been training for rt. I had teammates that had similar injuries and it took them months to fully recover, some of them stopped playing altogether. So I kinda had a short-term depression because I can't imagine myself not being able to run and play sports anymore.
Because I was so desperate to recover again, I contacted a lot of people that I know who do sports and asked them if they had similar injuries. One friend of mine, from the boy's football team in my university, told me about H.E.M. Ankle Rehab. I got a copy 4 days after I got injured. I immediately read and followed what was instructed and felt improvement on the first day. I was able to walk a bit, but I was in pain.
A couple of days after that, the swelling and bruising were subsid-ing significantly and on the fourth day, I was walking comfortably again. Although I've had felt a bit of stiffness, I continued doing what was instructed. My sister was surprised that I have recovered this fast. I told her about this book and was shocked on how effective the procedures were. I'm just so happy that this book was shared to me and how effective it is.
Heal your ankle fully & fast?

i've been in your situation. Last year i went orienteering at bastrop and the second day i severly sprained my ankle not even 5 minutes into the course but i kept on the course by the end my ankle was the size of a small ball that you get at walmart. well anyway keep off your ankle as much as possible put ice on it then a heating pad every two hours and it should ease some of the pain and take tylonel.

If your ankle was broken you wouldn't be able to put any weight on it and you would be in constant pain. It sounds like you might have a fracture or something, so you should probably have your mom take you to the doctor to have it checked out. If you do have a fracture or a break you don't want it to heal wrong and you will need a doctor to set it or cast it the right way.

Amber...... please get your folks to take you to the hospital. It is hard to say what you have done to your ankle. But I am someone who has broken their ankle twice. Believe me some breaks do not always swell up and go black for days. If you don;'t get your ankle looked at the bones will start healing the wrong way and then it will need to be reset which believe me can be very painful. If you are at a friends home asking this question on their pc call your folks and tell them what has happened.
Hope it works out ok for you.

well id say that their is def a good chande that you have broken it. ive never heard of neone being in that much pain from just a bad sprain. i know you said you couldnt get to the hospital but you really should go to the hospital soon. their is no harm in going to get an x ray if it saves your ankle from being permanently damaged. if the pain dosnt get any better in a couple of days maybe that will change her mind

It sounds like you should really have an xray--but if that is not an option i have a couple of ideas for you. try this informative web site i use, myfootshop.com, it offers help in finding out what may be going on along with providing some over the counter products to help out. if that still isn't doing the trick, try the discussion forum that is available. i hope this helps you out, if not please try the ER for xrays. use the source for the direct link to the site. good luck!

go to emergency - not necessarily right away (unless you're in a lot of pain) - and get it checked out - it needs seeing by a professional. cant diagnose just on what u've said - it will need an xray.. also apply ICE, rest your foot and keep it elevated - and dont press/stand on it..

Why would you ask someone on Yahoo to be a doctor for you?? Go to the emergency room.
