To correct the first few people, lie is the proper word when talking about a person lying in bed. But, to answer your question, yes you can tell the truth AND lie in bed, because lie and lie are homonyms and mean different things even though they are the same.

Yes you can!
You can also say, "Lie in bed.." - to put matters straight!! (ha-ha!)
We can only tell the truth, as far as we know it.
We have to lay the table, though - that is the truth.

Trust me, I am a teacher, and I know these things!
