Why are you being induced?
Are you way overdue?
I've seen people have problems with that; to me it makes no sense; don't pick the apple off the tree until it is RIPE.

Are You Over Due Or Are There Signs That The Baby Is In Stress. It Depends On The Person. My Labour was Induced On 3 Of My Children. The First Time, I Like You had No Signs Of Labour,When They Induced me In the Afternoon, My Labour Did Not Start Until the Next Day. I Was In Labour 9 Hours, (9 Very Long And Painful Hours). The Second Time Went A Little Faster. 8 Hours Of Labour. But Not that Painful. The Third Time 5 Hours Of Easy Labour. Like I said before It Depends On The Person. Talk To Your Doctor, They May Have Some Idea. But The Only One Who Truly Knows When It's Time Is Your Baby.

I was induced on April 13, but didn't delliver until the following day at night. One of the tips the doctor gave me about beind induce was to have a lot of sex days prior to. Something in the semen helps to get labor started. He said it is the same thing that is in the cervadil they use to induce labor at the hospital.
Cervadil is a synthetic prostaglandin. The procedure will help ripen the cervix to shorten labor and result in a faster, less difficult vaginal delivery. there is prostaglandins in a man's semen and if you can get comfy enough during the act to actually orgasm, 'the sperm treatment' as I liked to call it will hopefully stimulate your cervix while your big 'O' will get the uterus to contract. If your baby is ready and your body is ready to labor, it will hopefully start mild contractions for you. another thing is nipple stimulation. roll nipples for 2 min, rest for 3 then roll for 2 rest for 3min, for a total of 20 min. Then wait and see what happens. Again, it will only work if your body is ready to labor. No one can predict how long or how painful/painless your labor will be. Everyone's is different. I wish you luck and a healthy baby.

I don't know what to tell you because everyone is different. It all depends on your tolerance to the medication that will be given to you to induce labor and it will all depend on how long it takes for you to dialate. I have a two year old son, and for me my labor was induced and it took me 16 hours to fully dialate. However I ended up having a c-section as my pelvic was too small and my son could not pass through (he weighed 8 lbs. 4 oz). Just remeber to relax, and sure it will be alot of pain, but just think about your baby and how much joy he/she will bring to your life. Just remember if you can push out the baby please do, as a c-section is no fun once the anesthesia wears off. Good luck

I did not have any sign when they want to induce my labor 2 weeks early. Some people do and then others don't. Both of my kids where induce and i never had any sign of going into labor with them.

Well....I was induced with my first one. I was 12 days overdue..no signs of labor or anything. After the Pitocin was injectd, I SLOWLY started having contractions. After I started fullblown HARD labor, I was in labor for 11 hours and got dialated to a whole whopping 2cm !!! I was 20% efaced and not doing anything but contracting like crazy on the delivery table. I was taken in for a c-section after those 11 hours of HARD labor with no pain medication or anything! OUCH!! Thats my story. Good Luck! I am very excited for you!!

If your cervix has not dilated or softened (effaced) any, they will probably put a ripening agent in first - it feels like they're doing a pap smear. Once it has softened up, they'll start pitocin, an IV medicine that will start the uterus contraacting, which in turn starts cervical dilation (you may want to think about your epidural at this point!). I started from scratch - a non-dilated, non-effaced cervix - and from the time they put in the ripening agent, it was 30 hours, but from when they started the pitocin, 18 hours. Just to warn you, if you are starting from scratch, your chances of needing a c-section are higher. But you do what needs to be done for a healthy baby, right?
Good luck!

Everyone has already told you that we are all different, But my advice is when the contractions start and in they will let you try to stay standing up as long as possible. Walk around just little walks. My mother kept me on my feet till the last mintue with my 5 children and they were all born really quickly. Good luck and just enjoy the birth of your baby. It is really the most wonderful feeling.

Everyone is different... I was 12 days late with my son and they had to induce labor, they gave me potocin and it put me into hard labor right away so fast that they couldn't give me anything for pain so I had him totally natural in 45 minutes, and he was almost 10 lbs so he hurt....so talk to them about this first and be prepared... Congratulations....

Everyone is different. Also being induced is more painful than natural labor IMO, so get the epidural.

I was induced twice and both times i contracted immediately and had the baby fairly quickly, however everyone is different. I hope things go well for you and don't be a hero, there is no reason you have to go through that pain, have the epidural baby
