I don't know which website to suggest, and there are *many* good scifi sites.
As for SciFi authors, my latest fave is Paul Hamilton. Incredible world/universe building. Epic stuff.
Others:
Dan Simmons
Robert Silverberg (esp. Kingdoms of the Wall)
Frank Herbert
Orson Scott Card (esp. Ender's Game)
Poul Anderson
Kim Stanley Robinson
Greg Bear
Gregory Benford
Those guys could keep you busy for a couple years alone.
Happy Reading.

If you like witty social commentary, read Norman Spinrad.
If you like extremely passionate writing, try Harlan Ellison.
For deeply thought-provoking works, seek out Brian Aldiss.
Alfred Bester provides social commentary, provokes thought, and adds a dash of sophistication.
Try the newsgroup rec.arts.sf.written to get in touch with other scifi fans.

Go to Baen's Books on the web. Sign in and be responsible or they will kick you off the site. There are hundreds of authors that regularly visit the chat room at Baen's Bar. Have fun.
