Oh you may be able to put some sort of limiting device on it but the real problem won't be solved by doing so. His ignoring common sense and good judgment are the things that would worry me. If the car is yours, take the keys. Can't do that? what you do next depends on his age.

Er, if you have enough parental power to do such a thing as that, and you're worried about him going to fast... WHY THE HELL HAS HE ENDED UP BUYING / BEEN BOUGHT A CAMARO?

Get him a Metro instead! (he'll still drive too fast and kill himself, but at least he'll not take out half the country when he crashes)

(or, for Camaro money, a Solectria Force - a nice 4-door electric car with decent range, and usable, but hardly "high" performance)

Seriously... if he's determined to drive like a dick... any sensible setting you could apply to a speed limiter would still allow him to get in trouble. You'd have to take it down to 25mph or less so that he would physically be unable to kill someone by knocking them down unless they were crushed under the wheels - or kill himself in a head-on. Even so there wouldn't be anything stopping him driving out in front of a truck without looking; just, he then wouldn't have the power to get out of the way - and there's still scope for a head-on with someone coming the other way at 70mph but it being his fault for driving stupid. May as well give him a moped instead.

I would trade or sell the vehicle seriously my parents would not let me buy a camaro or anything similar and looking back I think it was the best thing they could have ever done for me. Please consider selling and replacing the vehicle with a 4cyl Honda base model civic like a 95-99 it has 118hp or something similar.

Good luck

You may be able to limit the top speed electronically with a programmer. As far as acceleration, Put in some old spark plugs and a clogged air filter

Warn him once...slow down or else..If he does not....pull the keys. As a EMT I go all the time to MVAs where speed is the main reason for the crash. What question will you be asking if you get a phone call stateing he is in jail because he injured someone in a MVA....or he KILLED someone....or he has been KILLED himself. I'm sorry but I have had to many people die while trying to save them from MVAs. I belive this is called Tuff Love in being a parent.

Yes, but it's easier just to sell the car and get him something else to drive. Something more economical and safe. Like an Echo or a Yaris or a Honda Fit.

speed is not always the biggest problem. Make sure he pays 100 percent attention to the road. No eating, drinking, or cell phone usage. In my opinion a little extra speed is less dangerous than a lot less attention/focus.

it's called Being a Parent!!! stand up as a father and tell him that he needs to obey all traffic laws and that if he doesnt slow down, he will get cited for speeding and being a horde in the public. And also put his car up on blocks and take away his wheels for awhile until he learns his lesson.

If you're so concerned, then why are you letting him drive a Camaro? He should have a Toyota Echo, or something similarly practical and economical.
