I was wondering about this the other day, and it occurred to me that they haven't really tapped the Japanese anime for their "new" movies.
I mean, they've redone old movies, television shows, true events, old american toons (Scooby Doo, Flintstones), and Comics.
If they did do anime into live action full length movies,.. which ones would you like to see?
I personally would like to see:
Cowboy Bebop
Robotech (Macross for others)
Ghost in the Shell
Armitage III
Witch Hunter Robin
Just to name a few

You won't see it happen because there is not a large market for that genre in the first place. Comics have become big because their popularity over many successful years.
Maybe one or 2 could make a decent gross but nothing like the deluge we see with recent comic book movies.

They had brought up for a DBZ live-action movie, quite some time ago... however it was shot down.
Unfortunalty I do not see any Hollywood directors leaping at the storylines of Japanese anime anytime soon.
They are too busy with their Snakes On Planes... and their remakes of classics (superman, king kong...)
Personally I would love to see any connection to the Gundam series in the movie theather... the CG and action would win lots of money!

OOO! I like all of those, but please start with the Robotech. I just wanna beat Minmei's face in. I'd have to suggest Vampire Princess Miyu. Vampire Hunter D. I'd like to see Bubble Gum Crisis, but they'd have to leave the songs alone. And for wishful thinking Bleach, which I hope is coming to Cartoon Network in September. Ranma 1/2 would be absolutely hillarious....tho a lot of editing would be needed (too much cleavage for most audiences)

I reaaally hope not ! I love Anime (Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Paranoia Agent, etc) and would absolutely hate to see the typically craptastic dumbing-down remakes that hollow-wood loves making !

I officially like you! I would LOVE to see inuyasha in live action...it would cost an abnormal amount of money to do, but it would be so good!!! another could be case closed. full metal alchamist would be another pricy but good one... funny all the ones I suggested I'm watching tonight.

none. I study japan and japanese, but not interested in any of this anime stuff. i haven't seen anime since i studied, 5 years ago
