The "A" key on my laptop has somehow gone out of place and now i have to press hard to get it to work. Is there a way i can fix this myself? If not how can I get is fixed?

Pull it off and see what is wrong with it, most of them just unclip. Food and dirt get behind the keys. If that doesn't work, search ebay for somebody who trashed the same model laptop as yours.

My daughter had the exact problem with her Thinkpad. We ended up getting a new keyboard.

Perhaps you can find a used or discarded laptop from the same maker and try to transfer. I am afraid you will end up replacing the keyboard,

if it's a dell, close it, flip it over so your looking at the bottom. unscrew the screws labeled "k" flip your laptop over, and he keyboard will lift right out. you can then get access to the back of it, or shake out whatever is stuck behind the a key
