I just wanted to know because I don't plan on doing so unless I cook them at home which isnt often that I do. I've read so much that its the most popular finger food for toddlers. My cousin is already stuffing her baby with them and she is only 10 months....whole pot pies and top ramen too.

My son doesnt get any unless we are eating them. Because he eats what we eat, but I would never make or buy some just for him because I know he likes them. They are terriable for kids.
Kids will be eating crap before we know it, so why introduce it now when they need every calorie they consume? I agree with you. I dont give my son any processed foods. Lots of fruit and veggies (im lucky because he loves them) real cheese, not that fake american crap, and very little fried foods.

You must be joking, I hope. Why would you ever give your baby anything w/ so many saturated fats? Your friend needs a reality check for doing it w/the frequency that she does. I mean ramen noodles. What is she thinking? Are you trying to propagate diabetes. Why feed a growing baby carbs that are so high on the glycemic index. Its as if you were purposfuly trying to make them obese or diabetic or both.
Babies should be breastfed exclusively until their 1st birthday and primarily until their 2nd.
As far as finger foods try things that are not fried or have the chemical content of ramen like fresh veggies. I bake sweet potatoe "fries" for our baby on occasion. Or asparagus, brocoli spears, apple slices, the list is infinite.

My kids get french fries only on the rare occasion we go to McDonald's. (We usually go about once a month before we do our big grocery shopping trip for the month.) Burger King offers other sides though...the fruit flavored apple sauce is great, and they both love it. However, I don't think McDonald's offers this yet--it's either fries or nothing, and McDonald's is closest to our grocery store, so...

Pot pies aren't so bad, especially if they're homemade. I don't know about the Ramen though...the noodles are probably OK, but if you add the seasoning, it's SO salty.

My baby is only 5 1/2 months old, but I hope to not give her french fries for a long, long time. I know I will at some point, because we eat them, but hopefully I have the presence of mind to wait until she is at least 3. If they are homemade and baked, not fried, they aren't too, too bad.

Ew. They're very high in sodium (not good for little kidneys, esp. that Ramen).

My youngest, who is 8 years younger than my oldest, had more junk food earlier, but for the most part I try to avoid all that junk (goldfish crackers too) and anything with corn syrup for at least 2 years.

I am stricter than most parents, but I can't believe fries are a popular finger food for babies. That's SOOOO unhealthy. My youngest loves broccoli. (and my two older ones are very resistant to veggies, just to be fair and honest ;-)

I've given my toddler french fries from time to time but not at 10 months. That seems a bit early.

My daughter likes the apples better anyway.

Breast milk or infant formula should be the main source of nutrition for babies until 12 months. Solids given before 12 months are mainly for "experience" and not the primary source of food for the child. That being said I tend to be very careful about what I give my babies. There are so many food allergies these days, and giving babies food their body isn't ready to digest only makes food sensitivity and allergy more likely.

I like to give my babies whole foods like vegetables and fruits, then move on to grains and meats as they get older. It seems to be working well, all of my kids are happy, healthy, and they actually like to eat their vegetables (well, OK, not ALL kinds of vegetables, but they do like lots of veggies!) I think this is because to them, vegetables are just something we eat, like bread, chicken, pasta... They do eat fast food sometimes, but it's not an everyday thing. I can't AFFORD that! LOL!

what?! Here is an opportunity to set your child on good health for life. Don't corrupt her with french fries. She will find them soon enough since almost every restaurant piles them on the kids plate (remember to ask for substitution). Besides, there have been so many studies lately that link deep fried strachy foods (ie. french fries) to cancer mutations. French Fries are not the gift of love

skip the french fries. The only reason they are the most common finger food is because people are to lazy to cook their own meals. my kids loved cooked carrot sticks. they are soft like a french frie and easy to handle. cheerios is great also. The sooner you start feeding your baby healthy food the better your chances are that she will eat them later in life and love them
