Heck no. The politicians there will end up padding there pockets with the billions the federal government is going to send of our tax money. To many freeloaders there.

One reason for New Orleans being flooded was because the leeves broke. The administration and government of Louisiana have a responsability to watch out and help rebuild a devistated city in their own country!

It's insanity and essentially a huge income redistribution scheme, ie: federal and state taxes paying for welfare on a citywide scale. Take money from smarter people and give it to idiots who ought to know better.
It's like the federal flood insurance scam where these people rebuild their houses in the same place 3 and 4 times after they are destroyed by hurricanes. HELLO, ANYBODY HOME? Pay them ONCE and after that they better try somewhere else.

It's funny most of you undereducated morons who advocate abandoning New Orleans even have computers.
If Amsterdam can exist as a vibrant urban center under sea level why can't New Orleans?
This is America, aren't we supposed to be one of the most capable countries on the planet?
What are we going to be outdone by measly little Holland!?

I believe there is great potential in New Orleans... not in the New Orleans of the past, but in a great new way...
If I was the Mayor of New Orleans, I would attempt to have the city raized, then rebuilt on stilts, and allow the basin to be filled. New Orleans could become New Venice.

Yes we have to rebuild New Orleans. Just move some of those neighborhoods further North.

NO ! Certain areas should be turned into public parks and recreation areas. Any new housing should be built to the exacting specs they have in Florida. There should never be another"welfare" district like the ninth ward.

Flood zones should become wetlands again as they use to be. Why any one would want to live in an area prone to flooding, I don't know. Keep me in higher ground!
