I live in an area with excellent cell phone coverage, so its not my location.

That's a technical fault with your cell. How long do you have it for? It's better you take it back or take it to a repair shop. Try switching it off and on. If the problem continue, do what i said above. Good luck.

Either you moved to a location where your cell phone was no longer receiving a signal, or if you went into an elevator it would stop working. If you were in a store walls may have intercepted and interfered with reception.
