Urban myth would say 2 live ones, is this true? I don't really want to try this out, just curious.

(btw don't really know how to categorise this, so am going for trivia).

If you cut a reasonably large earthworm in half both halves will survive for a short while but only the end with the 'saddle' will be able to heal and regrow its 'tail'. The other end might wriggle about for a bit (or even quite a long time) but without a mouth or a brain it cannot grow back into a viable worm.

If you chop a live earthworm, you get a dead earth worm.

However if you chop a life flat worm (e.g. planaria), you will get 2 live animals. This is called regeneration. One study had choped off 1/256 (or so) of a planaria and the piece still grew into a new planaria!

One dead one without a doubt, it is a myth that a worm will survive after being sliced in half. All the best

Apparently the myth arose because nerves in its body will make it wriggle for a short time until death.Incidentally depending on how much of its stomach is removed from its head(so it can eat and digest) the top part always lives considerably longer.

Ask your doctor about an exercise routine. Regular exercise, such as walking three times a week, may reduce neuropathy pain, improve your muscle strength and help control blood sugar levels. Gentle routines such as yoga and tai chi might also help.

it is hard to say because if you chop it in half it may move for a couple of minutes and then die. i dont think it would be two worms living.
