For a couple -- it is where each party comes to the table with an idea of how to solve a problem (which each person knows is different), and they meet with respect, and agree on a common solution. That is a compromise.

Compromise should be about an issue, it should mean neither wins or loses but both can live with it. It should never be about compromising yourself or your morals or beliefs.
