I would like to download windows vista for which i need 15 gb freee space. But there is only 3 gb freee space in c drive so i would like to join my d drive which has 12 gb free space with c drive .May someone tell me how to do this.

Use programs like Partition Magic, free alternatives are none-fdisk Linux alternatives to resize, although I do believe D needs to completely gone because the likely location of used bits on the physical platter,

Part of the problem with doing this is that windows will be joining the two drives, so it is possible and the software will manage it. HOWEVER, if you do that and then go to install vista, windows will not be running and the two drives won't be joined. So vista won't see the extended 15 gigs. So while you can do it, it may not do you any good for what you want to do.

if you only have a total of 15gigs of free space between the 2 drives, you are going to need more free space. but you can join the 2 drives by using a program to manage the partitions, such as partition magic.

You'll have to move some of your files from one drive to the other (probably from C to D) so that you have a full 15GB free on C:


And let me stress that you'll want to know *what* you're moving before you do so. You do not want to simply copy entire programs (like Microsoft Office) over.

It cannot be done. Hard drives are very cheap. This maybe a good time to upgrade.
