How long after stopping the depo shot should it take to become pregnant. I have taken 3 rounds of depo ( 9 months) & I am due for another Sept. 16th.. I would like to try to get pregnant in October. I have seen alot of people say it takes a year or more.. but that is generally when you have been on it for awhile... What do you think?

I used to be on Depo... only had one injection though. I somehow got pregnant... maybe the injection I got was expired or something. I dunno. But I also lost the babies due to stress about 4 months into the pregnancy. Anywayz... if I were you... I would not take the shot anymore. Trust me... no matter what... it is going to take a while to become pregnant... it does not matter how long you have been on the shot. But then again... you might be one of the lucky few who get pregnant right off the bat. It's also been known that once you do get pregnant... you might have several miscarriages. The effect of the shot I am guessing. I've listed a site below that might help you with more questions about the depo shot and of trying to conceive. I found the information there very useful. It's also a message board. I hope it helps. I wish you the best of luck!!

I think I would not take the next shot for sure! I have had friends, and family that it has taken at least a year, and sometimes a year and a half to get pregnant after taking the shot. I am pretty sure they were all on it for at least 5 years, but if you are wanting to get pregnant I would not get any more depo shots.
I think on the pill they said to try to be off of it for about 4 months and keep track of your cycles when you stop. That way you will be able to know about when you will be ovulating and when you will be most fertile. Good luck and enjoy TTC!

Truely, my pal simply learned that she is pregnant, and he or she was on depo. She mentioned She obtained the shot and it lasts for a exact quantity of months, now she is set 2 months pregnant. So, i guess that solutions your question. Use a backup, barrier or switch to the pill. Oh, and depo has been identified to intent ovarian cysts in some ladies.

I am still waiting and I had my last depo shot two years ago!! Good luck getting pregnant right away. I hadd periods two days apart for months. Then, my cycles were 40 days or longer so I never knew if I would ovulate. We are still trying and every month we have our hopes up.

Okay, I'm kind of going thru the same thing. I have only had 1 shot-now due for another but not getting it. husband and i decided to try and conceive. i spoke to my nurse yesterday and she said that the chances are higher for me to get pregnant since I only had 1 shot. she said it could take anywhere from 1 mnth to 6 mnths. Just keep trying...everyone is different...JUST DONT STRESS ABOUT IT!!! If it happens it happens....it will happen eventually.
