It's not rocket science! Just slide a drain pan under the bike and pull the plug. Remove and replace the filter too, fill it up again (about 3.5 liters if I remember correctly,) and you're good to go. You should use a good 4-stroke motorcycle oil because the Vulcan has a wet clutch.

-Remove the oil drain bolt on the bottem of the motor (17mm wrench) and drain the oil.
-Re-install the bolt with a new sealing washer if needed.
-Remove the oil filter (spin-on, rear of motor). Make sure the o-ring didn't stick to the motor.
-Dip your finger in oil and wet the o-ring of the new filter.
-Install the new filter until the o-ring touches and tighten it another 1/4 turn.
-Always check the oil level with the bike upright (as if you were sitting on it).
-Oil fill cap is on the R crankcase cover. Oil level sight glass is below the oil fill cap.
-With the bike upright, fill to cover 3/4 of the sight glass and re-install the cap.
-Run the bike for a few minutes (to let the oil circulate through the engine and oil filter).
-Stop the bike and let it cool down for a few minutes (to let the oil drain down to the crankcase).
-Re-check the oil level and add more if necessary.

If you go to Auto Zone's website, they have oil specifications and how to diagram/help sections.
