maybe the San disk e250, especialy since it is only 189 dollars. It has built in 2gb memory, but you can expand the memory! What other Mp3 player does this?

In addition, it does the video feature which you don't get with the nano unless you spend 300 dollars.

It also has a built in voice recorder and FM radio.

Its also a popular enough brand you get some acceories with it.

Good luck on your serach,

There are lots of companies selling mp3 players that are cheaper, have more memory, or more features than the iPod. Many of these were introduced by companies that claimed that they had the "iPod killer" that would finally steal market share from Apple.

The truth is that Apple now has over 70% of the mp3 player market and despite the deep-pocketed efforts of many would-be competitors like Sony and Dell, none have been able to knock Apple at all.

The reason is that Apple offers an extremely well-designed player with a good feature set, good memory, and simple, easy-to-use design at a good price. On top of that, it integrates easily with the #1 online music store, iTunes Music Store, and the iTunes software makes it very simple to manage your music collection.

Don't take my word for it - read the nano's review from William Mossberg, the technology guru at the Wall Street Journal who said "the nano has the best combination of beauty and functionality of any music player I've tested"

I don't know of a brand, but there are a lot of nice MP3 players that are cheaper that hold just as much. You can even get one that can use those little memory cards, then the limits are endless! (I don't really like the ipods the mouse confuses me)

If you just want something to hold a couple hundred songs I'd try that. Or just buy an MP3 CD player and burn your own (an MP3 CD can hold almost 200 songs). Either way you'd save yourself some money.

I'd recommend a Creative Zen. They are less complex to figure out and will hold just as much as the Ipod Nano.
