Terrorism takes different forms. The KKK and IRA terrorize people, so they are terrorists. Since Bush is the Commander and Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces, and we go to war at his command, then HE is a terrorist.

this isn't really to answer your question but to correct Jude who answered you the IRA were 1st set up to protect the Catholics against the blacken tans and the orange men..... the tans were the 1st to use guns....... as for freeing the north that was and is a load of bull over the years people forgot what they were fighting for ... when the north wanted to be free they were told to let the people vote on it and they voted to stay with England ,,,,that would have been there grandparents and great grandparents who voted ......don't get me wrong i hate what the IRA did but at least they gave warnings of where they planted the bombs.... i should know as i had them put in my school.work place and even in stores when i was just out shopping

By many people's definition the Irish Republican Army ( IRA ) was / is a terrorist organization. They are Catholic fighting against English forces which are mostly Protestant. I would say a terrorist is one who uses violence or the threat of violence to achieve political aims.

The Crusaders were Christian and they were not 'very nice'.

The slave trade was terrorism - in the name of Chrsitiandom.

Most religions (or those pretending to follow them) have committed terrible acts against others. It tends to be a small few, taking a couple of words of the teachings out of context and using them to justify their actions.

The IRA, the Irishmans Republic Army, used to be engaged in terrorist activity. They would target civilians, attack from the shadows, and not wear identifying marks that would identify them as combatants.

Terrorist, religious fanatic or freedom fighter is all relative to the side of the fence you sit!
I fought in a war where the government considered the "opposition" to be terrorists but they called them freedom fighters. Personally any one who uses any form of intimidation to promote their ideals be it religious or political is a terrorist.
(yes even a Jehovah witness who knocks my door every Saturday!)

The ones that attack abortion clinics, the group in Sheffield caused a woman to have a miscarriage. They've been a bit quiet since then.

The IRA were mainly catholics, although they're justification was more political than religious, i.e. wanting a united Ireland.
