first of all i think a diary is personal stuff, unless the owner ask you to read it or something inside it coz he needs an advice. or you can read the diary of any famous person that is already in the book shops ;) lol
think if someone else would read your diary what you would feel?

i used to have a diary and i still do sometime, but in general my diary were about my work ideas... but i used to destroy the diary once in the year and start another one, not coz i was afraid someone will pick my ideas, i just didn't like anymore my old ideas... so i always restarted it

Diaries are personal items and are not meant to be read by anyone else. I will not keep one because I don't want anyone to read my innermost thoughts. Finding someones diary and reading it is a very serious violation of privacy.

I have seen a personne diary where he used to wirte only of God and he said in the first page,God is my best freind and i share what i have in my heart for him words can be forgotten but words written on his name will be a memeorial for me.
