When asked what was taking so long to clean up New Orleans, Mayor Ray Nagin justified himself with the following remark: "You guys in New York can't get a hole in the ground fixed and it's five years later. So let's be fair." What are your thoughts on this? I personally agree with him.

Nagin spent all year running for re-election. New Orleans still doesn't have a workable evacuation plan or a viable shelter system. Nagin is a farce, lets just hope the hurricane season remains slow so more people don't have to die because of Nagin's incompetence and corruption.

The Levee Commissions didn't have time or money to prevent the levees from giving way because they were too busy donating to Nagin's re-election.

Besides, any work that has been accomplished in New Orleans is due to the federal government... Nagin and Blanco ceeded authority because even they realize they are shams as leaders.

Well, Ray Nagin is just the mayor of the city. The buck doesn't stop with him because the governor has to do her part in negotiating federal funding and implementing cleanup, right? So, while some people don't trust him and probably have reasons, I think there are people in higher places to blame than him. With that particular statement, he may have been trying to tell people to get it in perspective. All politicians say things to deflect blame from themselves, and to the guy who said that it is more common to Democrats to finger point- think again, sir!

I think Nagin is a fool, and I think the people of New Orleans are even bigger fools for reelecting him.

There's one big glaring difference between that "hole in the ground" in New York and the mess in New Orleans: They KNEW Katrina was coming, and STILL did nothing about it. That simple fact speaks volumes in and of itself.

How many citizens of New Orleans died because Nagin didn't have the brains to get the school buses going to evacuate them?
He's an idiot--his statement just proves it.

Nagin is a retard who needs to clean his own house before running his mouth about something he knows nothing about. Go ask the people who were crapping in sinks at the superdome if his opinions have any merit.

i think of, no, i understand the guy develop into and is traumatized by Katrina. i understand because of the fact I lost each and every little thing I owned in this hurricane and that i do no longer stay in New Orleans. New Orleans had flooding and as a consequence of the flooding and the shortcoming of choose of the human beings to evacuate, there develop into looting. I stay interior the agricultural area of the coast and we had flooding and devastation on a scale i'm hoping to never witness returned. New Orleans develop into predominantly black earlier Katrina and particular will continually be. depart the guy on my own. As a fellow resident of the State of Louisiana, i will help you recognize that he has achieved the superb that he ought to with the help he have been given from our government. no one is right and by way of a terrible ordeal like Katrina, no one could desire to be estimated to be suited.

I say he was given an opportunity to explain the widespread devastation and the hopelessness that a hurricane of that magnitude causes. Instead he showed his level of incompetence YET AGAIN. I think he could have answered the question and made his point, but he chose his words without much thought!

I think Ray Nagin is semi-retarted.

He needs to be impeached.

I AGREE WITH THE MAYORS COMMENTS. WHY IS IT THAT SOME PEOPLE FEE IT IS TAKING TO LONG TO CLEAN UP THE CITY BUT IF SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENED TO ANOTHER BIG CITY HOW LONG WOULD CLEAN UP TAKE. AND ANYONE WHO HAS NOT BEEN HERE AND QUESTION WHAT IS GOING ON WON'T YOU COME DOWN AND HELP AND MAYBE THINGS WILL GO A LITTLE FASTER IF NOT SHUT UP ABOUT IT.
