I think I may be just that person.
It made me cry because of the feelings aned emotion behind it.
I am not sure if it is actually a poem, maybe a piece of prose, but that is not meant as a criticism, just a suggestion.
Have you read "Carrying the Elephant" by Michael Rosed? He wrote some poems and prose related to the death of his son, He also did a video, I think which was to help family members come to terms with a death in the family. - I can't remember what this was called.
My son, died, aged 20; 4 years ago, of Meningitis and I am still grieving. I have written one short poem, but found it really difficult to write anything so 'open' as what your daughters have written.
I miss my son, so much, even though we rowed a lot when he was around - he was a difficult teenager. Yes, I miss his smile and I would give anything just to talk to him again and to tell him how I feel.
Well, I won't ramble on too much ... but thanks for your question, and God Bless you and your family:>)

it's very nice although a bit long for a poem.
a poem has to be short and strong, to the point
if it can't grab you by the throat in a few lines it won't grab you at all.
i'll leave you with one of my one poems that says about the same thing in 5 lines
there will be no more day
no more light
no more air to breathe
since there is
no more you
hope you like it

Hello my dear, I really enjoy, i just read your poem and I really enjoyed it. It is creative, in depth, it carries with it a bag of emotion and believe me, it leaves me breathless. Your poem is in a class by itself and believe you will never be challenged for years to come. You will die holding this record.
Finally, reading your poem has revealed to me why I could never pass poetry in school

O.K. I think i get it... it made me think. Do you want to hear mine?
Well here goes anyway:
I'm falling and crawling, losing my footing again.
I'm tumbling and stumbling, collapsing down again.
I'm tripping and sinking, crumbling away again.
I hope you didn't think it was rubbish, thanks for the poem, xXx
