Its a major warning light for engine failure do not drive it till a mechanic has seen it ,
The reason it comes on usually is that either you havent checked the oil or water and that getting hot which can cause seizure if you drive it without seeing a mechanic to find the fault you could end up buying a new engine SO BEWARE

The light is your "Check Engine" light, and it usually means you have a bad sensor of some sort, likely the oxygen sensor more often than not. Take it to a dealer, or if you have an auto parts place like Auto Zone, Advance Auto Parts, or some similar place they will hook up a code reader to the vehicle to read the engine trouble codes, which will tell you exactly what is wrong.
Hope this helped.

It's the "get home mode", engine not running to full capacity and could have an engine management problem. Take it to a garage so they can plug it in and reset/repair it. If you continue to use car for a long time with this on it could eventually damage engine

It's the engine management light. I'm a mechanic. It usually is the air flow meter that is the problem. If i knew you, I could have a look at it.

Take your car to a garage that does diagnostic checks. Its not a service light and could be potentially very expensive if you dont get it checked. It may be a simple thing too,but until its checked you wont know.Dont use the car, unless taking to a garage to prevent further damage
