Deep in your own territory means you are between the 50 yard line and your endzone. (where your opponent has to go to score)

Fantasy Football = People create their team from anyplayer playing in the NFL in any team. They then use the stats that the players make per game to decide which team is the best.

ie.. If Running Back #1 ran 200 yards and scored 2 touchdowns during the real NFL game, then on your imaginary team he would have had 200 yards and 2 touchdowns.

It means that you are no more that 30 yards away from the goal line (although some prefer to have it be no more than 20 yards out.)

Fantasy football is where you make a team based on other players, a kind of all star team.

How they do in real football games lets you know how your team is doing. You get points if your players score well or has a great day.

Deep in your own territory decries the section of the field, on a team's half, below the 20 yard line; the team now has to gain some 80 yards or more to get points.
Fantasy Football refers to the common person's selection of a team of players, from any team, to comprise their idea of a Fantasy Football team; as games are played, points are rewarded for players on the Fantasy Team for yards; rushed and passed, TDs, receptions, interceptions, tackles, Field Goals and so on. As the playoff approach the few number of players on the Fantasy team will be available to make points. In a Fantasy pool, the person who has the most points at the end of the season, wins the prize.

If a team is deep in their own territory, it means that they are close to their own endzone (which is behind them). This phrase is often used in reference to a good punt - a good kick can "pin [a team] deep in their own territory," which means they'll have more than 80 yards to go to score a TD. (Although if a kicker kicks/punts the ball all the way back into the opponent's endzone, the receiving team can choose to not return it and the ball will automatically come out to the receiving team's own 20-yard line [a "touchback"]. A punt returner may opt to return the ball even if he catches it in his own endzone, if he thinks he can run it out further than the 20-yard line.)

If a team is deep in their opponent's territory, it means that they are close to their opponent's endzone - that is, they're close to scoring a touchdown (if they reach the endzone) or kicking a field goal (if the touchdown doesn't work out).

In fantasy football, participants take turns choosing (drafting) a bunch of real football players. The participants earn points for everything that their starters accomplish during the course of the real game they play.

For example, say you have Peyton Manning starting at QB for you, and he passes for 300 yards and 2 TDs (a typical day at the office for PM) during his game. Scoring systems vary, but a common one for QBs is that they receive 1 point for every 25 yards passing and 6 points for every passing TD. So, that day Peyton earned 24 points for you (300 yards/25 yards = 12; 2TDs x 6 points = 12). WRs, RBs, TEs, kickers, and defenses also receive various points for what they do during the course of their respective games.

At the end of a football week, one participant's cumulative score (all the points from all the players s/he started - usu. 1 QB, 3 WRs, 2 RBs, 1 TE, 1 K and 1 defense) is compared to that of the participant they're playing that week. Whoever's fantasy team scores more points that week wins.

It's easy to understand and a lot of fun (as long as your best players don't get injured during the season!). My league drafts this Sunday, actually, and I can't wait!

You're close. "Deep in your own territory" usually means that the opponent is near to your goal. When you're near theirs, it's called "In the redzone". Fantasy football is a game based on football, where you pick out players to make your own team. Then you watch the games that week, and get points if your players do certain things in real life, like score touchdowns, gain yardage, and complete passes. I joined a league for the first time last year, and it's a lot of fun.

Usually a bad thing Especially on 3rd and long.... Means your on the opposite side of the field that you need to be on to score.... and Fantasy Football is a game you play where you draft specific players and how they do in real life is going to stack up to how well you do as a fantasy team.
