i click "my computer" icon, only white screen with a flashing torch
swaying side by side; and i had to wait for about 5 minutes until it
show up the usual screen .

your hard disk could be about to stop functioning.
make a chkdsk
([start]=>run=>c:\WINDOWS\system32\diskmgmt.msc
right click on every partition (rectangular shape with a blue bar on top, right side of the screen)
Properties, go to the Tools panel and click on [Check Now...]
check both options;
if this does not find any errors, try [Defragment now...]
click on Analyze; most likely a pop-up will come up, advising to Defragment.
depending on what messages (Popup) you get, you may want to ask a new question.

the flashing torch you mentioned is telling you that your computer is searching try right clicking then left click open

I use to have that problem to but I forgot what causes that. I think it has something to do with having to many start up programs, or something having to do with cacheing...

processor is too slow too much spy-ware or viruses scan for these n then try n upgrade the processor
