Hi, My girl friend (27 yrs old) has a scar (or mark) running from her navel to vagina. She says she got that when she was born. To my knowledge a woman gets this kind of scar only when she is pregnant and undergoes a Caesarean operation. What's the truth? Pls also let me know of websites that have info on this topic. Thanks

Could be from any kind of surgery, but it does sound like she has something to hide. Ask her family members if they know what it is from. Caesarean scars run from left to right.....

she's telling you the truth. Many women don't even know that because the usually fade by the time we get grown. it comes back when we get pregnant and even the doctors dont have an idea why we get them. as for a web site you can try webmd.com. they're great and i love learing about the body.

They do a C-section horizontal not vertical as far as I know. So a line from her navel to down there probably isn't from a c-section. A c-section would be below her navel from one hip to the other or just about.

Does it matter? Will it change how you feel about her? Will it make her less terrific than you think she is now? Maybe she should start inspecting your body for little marks/scars and posting questions about them in this forum.

a scar and a mark are different! If she said she got it when she was born then go with that whys it matter does it gross you out or something? How well do you know her do you think she would lie to you?

c-section incisions can be either horizontal OR vertical, but if it is a scar, it could also bo some other type of surgery...other than seeing her medical record, you really couldn't tell for sure.

It's possible that she has had surgery. Maybe it was a c-section, but it could have been any number of other surgeries too. It might be that she's not ready to talk about it or, if she was young enough, she might not even remember it.

Completely normal, a result of hormones, which is why it's so common during/after pregnancy.

You can have it being pregnant and not being pregnant. i had it before i was pregnant and when i was pregnant it was darker and wider and i still have one two years after my child was born.

c sections are most always done right at the top line of the vagina and that are from side to side NOT UP AND DOWN.
