Bleach if the shirts are white. Pour on enough to soak the stain and watch it disappear. Then add it to a washload of white clothes. If it is not white try oxyclean powder directly onto the stain. If it is not perfect after the first wash - do not dry it, just repeat the stain removal again (dryer heat will make the stain impossible to remove).

I like Zout. Similar to Shout but I like it better. Use bleach and water (50%-50%, and with old clothes on in case of splashing) on whites as that's all that will completely and quickly get out stains. After washing, it's best to air dry until you know the stain came out, because the dryer heat will set the remaining stain, and this would not allow you to try removing the stain again.

And remember to presort loads into catagories before doing laundry - darks and mediums together; lights and whites (no bleach); and whites using bleach (avoid washing spandex with bleach, but may be OK at low concentration.) Why the presorting? Because the dyes in clothes go into the water during washing and the whites will get gray from that. (I know you didn't ask about presorting and may know about it, but I couldn't resist!)

On white shirts, I use a bleach pen. Excellent invention. I pretreat with Spray n Wash and I also have a scrub brush for nails and a small bottle of Tide for stubborn stains. Dawn dishwashing liquid is excellent for grease stains.

Depends on the stain you're trying to remove.

You can purchase this oxy cleaner at any dollar store. It is called Oxy burst, and is in a red spray bottle. Buy at any dollar store. (also works great for stains on carpet....and pulls them out instantly without any scrubbing)
Another great stain remover is "nursery stain-out" can be bought at K-mart or Wal-mart and works great for all kinds of stains. I swear buy both of these.
