Child custody in divorce cases are usually determined by the court at the time of the divorce. A lot depends on who is paying child support, what the visitation rights are, and whether the child is old enough to make his own decisions. Court orders can be changed if the present living situation is unsatisfactory. I don't know the exact age, or if there is an exact age, but if there is just cause for living with one parent as opposed to the other, the reasons have to be valid, and not just based on a child's preference. For example, just wanting to live with dad because you feel he is more lenient, is not a good reason. But wanting to live with your dad because your mom is abusive or neglecting you, is a good reason, and should be brought to the attention of the court.

there's no age that you have to be to decide. you just have to be old enough to know enough to make a good decision. it would probably be best if you saw both of your parents. if they are too far for you to go to the same school and stuff when you switch houses, then you could stay at one house during the week and the other house on the weekend. or if they are close together, you could stay at one house for a week or two and then switch. if the houses are really really fr, you could stay at one house during school and go to the other on holiday breaks (summer, winter break, spring break)
if you have to live at one house permanently, that's harder. you'll have to think really hard about everything about the house and area, and compare them. and it may be hard, but you also have to think which parent you'd rather be with
whatever your situation is, you have to let your parents know that you want some say in the decision. after all, its your lie, and you should be able to decide where you want to live it

well that would be for the judge to decide for you. Not unless you request to speak to the judge alone and let him/her know who you would want to live with. But you must know that the judge decides what is of your best interest. So as long as you can speak and say what you feel without having someone else speak on your behalf then I, would think that if you just do as I, told you to there shouldn't be any problems. I WISH YOU BEST

If you feel like you can handle the consequences of what will happen when you choose a house, and the other party doesn't agree, then you might just be ready. In other words, are you ready to pick between your parents?

A "witch" is the character depicted to represent evil. You are trying to decide "which" house to go to. You need to be 18 before you have a say so in this matter.

that depends on the state you live in..most judges will listen to you when you are between 12-16 unless the parents can prove why you shouldn't be heard.

tray talking to your parents...a good compromise may be 50/50 time split between both parents..If you want to stay with one parent over the other make sure you are doing it for the right reason.
