Isn't a wake where you view the person one last time before they are creamated? That is how they did my grandfathers wake... that is the last goodbye, so no... she is not someone close enough to submit your young children to death. My cousin died last month, and her husband didn't take their 3 and 4 year old to her wake and that was their own mom! Its just something they can go on in life without having to see or possible scarring them for a time. I am a grown woman and I still think about that person laying there~ no longer inside of that body. Also, too many sad people~ don't depress your children.

It's fine to take children to a wake. Just don't stay to long. Death is a part of life and, I feel, that it is better to acquaint them with it slowly, like now, instead of waiting until it is a grandparent.
