Death and coma has been reported with both overdosing on Xanax and in combination with alcohol. This does not mean it happens with most people but does pose a risk.
More likely one will have impaired coordination and that in itself poses the risk of injury (that could lead to death). Death can also occur from abrupt cessation of the drug, usually related to seizures. You are right to be concerned and if you think you have a problem with Xanax or alcohol I would seriously consider seeking help from a health professional -- this could save you problems now or in the future. Good Luck!

Yes - people have died from drinking alcohol with Xanax (alprazolam).

However, you describe that you have been doing exactly that for 5 yers. My guess is that you don't have too much of either and that you probably won't die from it. It is still not recommended by health care practitioners.

Your pharmacist hasn't worked in the ER and seen a ton of people coming in having overdosed on Xanax. He/she is working on the idea that you take one - try to relax - take another - try to relax and that you will fall asleep before you overdose. This is true - you are UNLIKELY to overdose on it. It doesn't mean you can't.

Xanax (alprazolam) and ALL of these types of drugs (benzidiazepines) are NOT THE SOLUTION for anxiety.

They are a band-aid treatment which will reduce your current anxiety levels so life is manageable.

However, you will need to find some ways of dealing with the underlying anxiety or you will just need more and more xanax.

Your body will become accustomed to it and very good at metabolising it. It probably already is after 5 years of xanax and alcohol.

Address the REAL problem or choose to live your life covering it up with a drug you will need more and more of. Or choose not to choose, which is the same as the last choice.

I refer you again to the websites from your previous post outlining behavioural therapy for anxiety. I understand if it seems like too much work. If your health is too much work for you, please quit asking for advice you won't go and take.

Yes, a person can die from mixing beer and Xanax, in about 50 years. Most likely you will go to sleep before you die or overdose.

You probably want to know that beer is a depressant and Xanax is a mood stabilizer. So what you are doing to yourself is making yourself depressed drinking and crying in your beer, then ruining a great high by taking Xanax to stabilize your moods.

If you wonder why you are mixed up and confused, you are doing it to yourself. But if you don't want to talk about it and have made up your mind, then go ahead. You will have accomplished one thing in your short life that no one will appreciate.

Remember "Thou shall not kill" a golden rule even for non religious types.

Xannax is a downer (anti-anxiety) drinking beer with it is also a downer!
If you're taking it for anti- you're defeating the whole purpose of the medication.
If you're doing it for FUN, what fun is it to be DOWN, I never could figure that one out!
And yes, you can - But I believe you already know that!

Not good for your liver ! You can O.D if you take enough.
Also Xanaz and Beer can be used as a date rape drug.

taking moderately and drinking won't kill you, but it will effect your liver.
You may not remember much the next day either

you can still overdose because it can cause a toxic overload to your liver. does your pharmacist know you drink? if they think you dont drink thats probably why they said that, alone it would take A LOT like 50 or more in one sitting to overdose because its a benzodiazapine.
