My daughter has been wearing glasses since the age of 2. The doctor says because she starting wearing them young we may be able to correct her vision. She will probably have to wear glasses until the age of 9/10. Has anyone had a similar experience and if so how successful was it? When can you get contacts or lazer surgery?

I started wearing glasses in 1st grade. The doctor also said I might be able to correct my eyes, but it didnt' work out that way. I wore them until the end of 8th grade, and then I got contacts. I am so glad, I HATED my glasses with a passion. You can get contacts earlier than that, but most eye doctors advise you not to. Laser surgery is pretty good, but sometimes your eyes get tired very easily if you do get it. To get this process done, however, you should be somewhat older, as in over 21. But, hopefully your daughter won't need any of that. Good luck with correcting her vision!

I started wearing glasses at 7. I was able to wear contacts for a few years till my eyes quit tearing. I am not able to have my problems fixed I am 61 If I could have had my eyes fixed I would have had it done. It would be great to weak up in the morning and see across the room. I even wear my glasses when I swim so I can see. Follow your ophthalmologist (not optometrist)recommendations

I wore glasses from about age 22 to 30. I fixed my vision with eye exercises. There are some good books on it.

I've worn corrective lenses since age 9. I'm not 22 and have been wearing contact lenses for about 5 years. Although my vision hasn't self-corrected but in fact worsened, it has slowly plateaued. My optometrist says that females generally plateau near the end of their teens.
