Is there any way with two PC's, both running WinXP Pro., using separate ISP's, that these two PC's can share files and drives from two separate locations without extreme difficulty? Possibly VPN's???

You need to setup a Virtual Private Network (VPN) between the two PCs. If you are not a network guru, I will suggest a very simple way:

Just install download and install HAMACHI software on each PC. At the end of the installation, Hamachi gives you option to create a network (create one using any name). Immediately you will see the new network created on the Hamachi window. From the 2nd PC, log in and join the network created on the 1st PC. SIMPLE. All you need do is to right click on the Hamachi IP address (associated with the other PC) and select browse. You will have point-to-point access to all folders and documents in the other PC.

Hamachi is freely distributed. Download a copy thus: http://63.208.197.224/files/HamachiSetup-1.0.0.61-en.exe

If all you want do is move files back and forth, you might want to setup one or both computers as an FTP server. This is really easy, and can be downloaded and installed quite quickely. Your FTP server should be secured using a password for each user.

A good and free FTP server software is:

In order for you to access the FTP server across the internet, you will likely need to open port 21 on each router.

Finally, you may wish to use an FTP client software to access the other machine. I use WS_FTP_LE. It is lightwweight and easy to use.
