should Bush declare marshal law and have the national guard take over New Orleans now and evacuate everyone? If he does not and another hurricane hits New Orleans and causes death and destruction we all know that he will be blamed for the hurricane and the damage it causes.

He could just drive a truck load of Heineken Beer into the center of town. Hop out and leave it there. Cordon off the city and wait for the gun fire to subside. (Kind of like you do with microwave popcorn) Then go in and declare the area "Federally protected open space," and leave it to the snakes and gators. Then we could stop worrying about it.

No, I live in a hurricane area. There is pleanty of time to get out of the way and I'm sure if it comes to a hurricane warning for New Orleans, EVERYONE will leave this time instead of trying to wait it out.

Good thing Bush didn't declare Marshall law since the hurricane is now on a more easterly path. Do you agree?

This should be VERY interesting ! It has to start with LOCAL government, then state. Nagin is peeing all over himself about NYC and the "hole",, I'll bet he will be the first to bail, blame it on President Bush again.

If the hurricane doesn't happen and he did all of that, he would be criticized anyway. Any decision is a catch 22 being president.

Well, he says he talks to God to make his decision. You would think he would ask to not have the hurricanes hit like that.

You're right, at this point anything that goes will be blamed on Bush.

I believe that it is up to the governor to order it and to ask for help from the feds. The feds cannot do anything without the governor permission, if they did they would be crying "abuse of power" and would once again come up with a bunch of conspiracy theories.

how is it Bush's fault that these people cannot heed warnings in the first place?, they had opportunities to get out, is it his fault they wanted to "kick it their whole life and pound 40 oz's", people this is a capitalistic country, you get what you put in.
