I just bought a newer used truck, and someone in their infinite wisdom used a liquid wax on the vehicle windows, and it looks dirty and spotted, is more hazardous at night and in rainy conditions. I've found NOTHING that takes it off, and I'm a cleaning nut. Does anybody know what will do the trick? Would appreciate the help!!

I have tried: dish soap, vinegar, alcohol, ammonia, ammonia with lysol, vinegar with dish soap, vinegar with cream of tartar. Nothing even begins to clean up the gunk on the windows! I contacted Goo Gone, who says it's bad for the rubber around the windows, but would offer me cleaning instructions on Monday when they open.

I'm rolling with Goo Gone or De Solv It. Try it on the passenger side windshield first to see if it takes it off in a test area. Then use masking tape around the edges to protect the rubber. Protecting the rubber is important, worst case scenario if you screw this up and break the seal it will result in horrific wind noise when you are going down the highway as well as a loose windshield- more cash down the drain. What wax did they use on the windshield? Maybe there is something specific you can find to take it off?

Any liquid wax can be scraped off with a razor blade. If nothing works then you need to look closer. Careful inspection of your windshield may reveal pits. Any amount of cleaning will be useless, because dirt, oils, and waxes accumulate in these pits, even the rubber off the wipers. If this is the case, you need an acrylic sealer or a new windshield.

Depends what kind of polish or wax was used on the windows. Sounds to me as if an abrasive polish was rubbed onto your windows. If so, the windows would have damaged surfaces from removing the polish if rubbed off and would look as if still dirty. At night the windows will seem blurry with oncoming lights shining onto the windshield. The windows would have swirly marks on them. I hope I am wrong in your case.

I just suffered them same problem with our new 2015 Rogue. My third attempt, after window cleaner with amonia and white vinegar and water did not work. Final attempt, Simple green mixed with very hot water and used a polishing method to clean it off and cotton flour cloths. Yeah!! This worked. Took a little elbow grease but the windows now look new.
In the future I plan TO AVOID LIQUID CAR WASH WAX!

I just got my new car washed and waxed at a drive thru car wash and now there are tiny spots on my windows too. And yes the sun makes it worse, I am pissed because I paid $20 for this and now I have to get it off!

Klasse All-In-One will remove it, clean your windshield and leave a Rain-x like slickness (I like it better than RainX because it doesn't suffer from glare like RainX).
Metal polish will also remove it. Follow up with an automotive glass cleaner like Invisible Glass or NXT glass cleaner.

I use a can of brake cleaner. Spray a good amount on a rag and wipe on windsheild. I use it to remove tree sap and bird doo. brake cleaner works better than any gimmick that sell in stores.

000 steel wool will get it out. It's cheaper and will also remove hard water or acid rain spots. Just requires a little elbow grease.
