Ok I'm still waiting to have confirmation that I'm pregnant, I saw a doctor today who has agreed to do the bloodtest for me, but due to the bank holiday it wont be done til tuesday, which means I wont get my results back for at least another week. I'm suprised the doctors didnt tell me but I'm treating this as pregnancy just in case. I'm taking folic acid, not drinking, smoking, husband is looking after the cats etc etc. But I cant remember which foods it is I need to avoid. I know I have to be careful with eggs but can anyone else tell me what other foods I should be avoiding please?

Many thanks

Stay away from seafood. Some is okay, think salmon and shrimp, but do not eat albacore tuna, tile fish, shark, or swordfish though. This is harmful due to mercury content. Be careful when eating meat period, make sure it is cooked properly to avoid food poisoning. And the last big this is caffiene. In terms of caffiene a very small amount is okay, but don't over do it. Keep in mind chocolate has caffiene in it. Drink plenty of water, and make sure you eat lots of colors a day. Also watch your sodium intake, no one likes having sausage feet swollen up from retaining water. Good luck, hope I helped.

Raw meats, fish with high levels of mercury, soft cheeses, and some doctors recommend not eating nuts according to some new research (but I don't think nuts are a problem).

Unpasturised milk, undercooked meat.

Eat whole natural foods whenever possible, but apart from that, vary the diet as much as you can.

Congratulation - I hope!! Keep us posted, yes?

Sushi, soft cheeses, caffeine, undercooked meats, deli meats and high-mercury fishes. those are the biggies.

Congratulations on your pregnancy!
