Can your period start out as a blackish brown color?

Yes it can.

The color you have is from "old" blood from a "mini period" that aged before before the regular menstrual flow began.

The last bit of the flow at the end of your period may also be a dark brownish color as well because it takes some time for the shedding uterine lining to leave your body (which "ages" and changes color).

Yes. It can. Actually its part of your uterine lining that thickens during your ovulation that comes out during your period. But if you're not sure you should ask your gynecologist OR if you are a young lady and haven't gone to the gyn yet, ask your GP or Pediatrician. Anything you discuss with them is confidential.

Yes, mine always is. And it's always a very light brown on the last day. It's completely normal!

Absolutely. It's the uterine lining, which is just basically blood and tissue. It can be any sorts of red color, and can also change throughout the flow.

Yes. Normal menustral blood can range from dark red to dark brown. But if you're really concerned about it, you can always see a gynecologist.

Yes, that's pretty normal. It's because so much of your lining is released the first couple of days.

yes---but not to scare you is there anyway you could be pregnant? sometimes if it is that color then it means it is old blood not new blood----this is still fine though but there could be other issues.

Yes. That's normal and it probably has something to do with how much oxygen is left in the blood. (I'm not sure though.)
