You never mentioned your age.
It's never too late to go back to school. As a parent it is your duty to set the standard. You must make education a priority in your home. If you can only take one class per semester at your local junior college, do it! It will grant you opportunities you would have never imagined.
As an English major the "I'm wanting" drives me nuts.

You are never too old to go back to school! Don't worry about not being able to afford it, either. Many colleges, large and small, offer grants/scholarships to who people like you who waited until they are older, and there are many other sources of funding. In addition, there are lots of programs and classes that you can take online so that you can work around your family's schedule.
The bottom line is: if you want it, go for it! If nothing else, you will be setting a wonderful example for your children!

Get a loan and go to school. Research colleges with accelerated degree programs so you can get done faster. Besides, accelerated degree programs usually don't meet that often. Or, try getting a degree on-line. What about teaching? You can do it on-line and besides who wouldn't love the the hours a teacher works and the vacation and holiday days off are great too. There's a good chance that you would qualify for financial aid, check with the college of your choice.

You are NEVER too old to continue your education. There is nothing more important than learning. I'm past 60 and still learning something new every day. The current learning curve is HTML. Internet courses are a great resource -- and if you can afford even one night class, GO FOR IT!

You are never to old to go back to school. My mom didn't start her teaching carrier until I was in 6th grade and then went back again and got her Masters when I was 22. Good luck, I commend you, it is hard work, even harder with a family too.

My mom went back and finished her bachelors degree at 60+ and she's actually using it to build her own business today. It's never too late to seek an education.

I think you should definately go back to college. As for financial aid, search the net (or local library) for scholarships and grants for single moms. Most of the scholarships I've seen are state specific, so you have to look in the state you live in. Try www.helpingsinglemoms.org (Arizona based). Best of luck to you.
