Just looking at the ratings you can tell people are being petty and thumbing down answers to get back at someone rather than because of the quality of the answer. I've seen some good answers get thumbed down. I'm also sick of the way people would rather get a measly 2 points by giving a stupid answer rather than help someone.
I'll probably get the usual 'have you got nothing else to worry about' answers, well i'm using this site so I might as well express my opinion about it.
Thanks in advance for all the insults I'm going to get .And thanks for pointing out this 'isn't a real question'. And you're welcome for the 2 points so no need to thank me by saying 'thanks for the 2 points'.
Then again no one will have read any of what I just typed because it's more than 2 lines long.

I'm not just talking about the polls and survey category, I'm talking about this entire joke of a website.

Yes, I agree with you.

I must have really pissed someone off without knowing it because I am getting reported everyday for correct and tasteful answers. It's like 3rd grade again on here. You say something that another person disagrees with and they go and tell the teacher. How childish has this become?

I also know what you mean about the thumbs down. Someone asked a question and stated their observation and still got a thumbs down. This is getting out of hand. But I think the majority of it is coming from kids playing around, or those who just like to cause a stir.

Nice question though, I was going to ask something similar along these lines as well. I just hope the reporting stops so I don't lose anymore points! Have a good day.

Well there are a few different things that I am tired of seeing...

#1 i like this guy and i dont know if he likes me blah blah blah

#2 insert random insult or completely inappropriate question here

#3 whose better *insert rapper/pop star* or *insert rapper/pop star*

I wish there was some sort of age restriction on this website, because, while we all deserve to get the answers we are seeking, if people are just going to take up space with dumb or inapproriate questions, then I really dont see what the point is. Its rather annoying to have to sift through lots of junk just to find what your looking for.

*grumble*

I agree with you. I don't know what motivates people to visit this kind of site to simply waste their time giving rude or unhelpful feedback. If I take the time to ask a question here, it's because I'm genuinely seeking information. I have received vulgar and ridiculous answers from time to time. The first time it happened, I was shocked. After that, annoyed. I'm not sure there's anything that can be done to prevent such people from doing this, unless Yahoo starts charging to use the "Answers" part of their site. (Might be an idea....)

I read every word and you are so right. I agree 100 percent. 2 points or 10 I am here to answer questions from the best part of my tired brain.

Popularity contest? What popularity contest?
(I just started on Yahoo answers and I really like it. Especially, I like that you can research subjects which may not have been written about or published online before. Also, you can hear from people who have personal experience or expertise on a particular question.)

think of it this way.

yes, there will always be people who do that. but there are also people who are really sincere in helping others.

i think it depends on the category as well. polls & surveys (as far as i have noticed) are more for the fun factors.

so no worries, all right?

I pretty much ignore it; it's not going to go away.

If you ignore it, at least you don't feed their ego by having shown that you were bent out of shape.

Human beings can be petty & childish.

Younger ones more so.

Just don't encourage them.

They either will or will not live long enough to grow up. (Not grow older...grow up.)(Whether or not they live long enough to grow older is a slightly separate matter.)
