Working on my summer reading notes, and we need to analyze the setting and how the characters' decisions impact plot structure. The problem is, there are so many settings, so many characters, and so many decisions they make that impact the plot. Can anyone help me decide which are the most important and why?

I checked sparknotes but they only had analysis of the characters and the plot, but not what I am looking for, so please dont recommend sparknotes.

Yes...I absolutely looooooooove this book!! Everyone should read this wonderfull story.

The story is about his white mother who married black man and refused to admit she was white. She was a very strong woman who worked hard to make sure all of her children became productive citizens. She even founded a church.

I know this isn't what you're looking for. Sorry I don't have more...I loaned my book to a friend who did not return it.
