When working in a spa setting, are reflexologists and MTs paid by the hour (a salaried position: a set amount regardless of how many clients happen to book for a particular day) or are they paid by the session (so if only 2 clients book for a particular day, the therapist is paid for those two sessions only)?

You can be a commission based employee or a independent contractor. If you are commission you get a % of the service fee. Say you get 40% on a $60 massage or if you are a independent contractor you just rent your space. That means for instance, you pay $400 for using the spa room part time. Then all the money you charge your clients is yours and you just pay the rent. Got it?

depending on the spa in question. majority of them will hire MT's per hour basis. most of these positions are part time so no need for salaried employees. if the place is big and booming then they would probably hire by salary. figure the bigger and busier the place is, you'll get salary

it really depends on the salon. Call a salon and say your a student and you'd like to ask them a few questions about their establishment. Don't make the salary question the first thing you ask though.
