Hmmm . . . if this is not an age-related problem, I think you could get rid of the dandruff by using a conditioner with your shampoo (but not an all-in-one-bottle shampoo/conditioner, because those don't work the same). I would try to avoid dandruff shampoo if I were you. I used it once, and it seems like it made my dandruff worse when I stopped using it. I used to use Infusium 23 (a leave-in conditioner with a watery consistency) on my hair, and that seemed like it made my hair come out better. It doesn't take much, so a bottle will last you a really long time. I also used to use VO 5, which is a grease-like conditioner. It takes very little of that stuff to condition your hair, especially because you're a man and not a woman (most hair products are made for women). When I first started using VO 5 I put a little bit too much and my hair came out greasy looking. It really made my hair look dirty and not freshly washed as it should have. So be very careful if you want to try VO 5. The instructions on the back of both Infusium 23 and VO 5 probably tell you to use more than you need to, so use less at first and see how it works before you try to use more.

Another thing: shampoo is shampoo. You needn't get any expensive shampoo. I find that Suave is a good brand. The only thing I don't like about it is that the conditioner will make my hair greasy if I use it every time I wash my hair (I have to wash my hair daily because I sweat too much to get away with it). And you needn't try both Infusium 23 or VO 5 simultaneously (if you do, you won't know which one is more beneficial). I'd try Infusium 23 first if I were you.

Other general recommendations:
1) Take a multivitamin, and eat a healthier diet.
2) Leave your scalp alone. If you scratch it too much, it may form scabs which seem like dandruff.
3) If you wear a hat, make sure the hat is not tight on your head.
4) Avoid all-in-one shampoo+conditioner products.

Good luck!
